CHESAPEAKE BAY ASTHMA RIDE & INLINE ROLL '08

Are you looking for an early long distance event, on a sweet flat course, to help you prepare for A2A?  Would you like to skate for a worthy cause?

Join us for the Chesapeake Bay Asthma Ride and Inline Roll, scheduled May30 & 31, & June 1, 2008 on Maryland's Eastern Shore.   We skated this event for the past two years and it's a a blast!  22 skaters participated last year and Team Rollerquest was awarded the plaque for the largest team in the organization.  After our particpation Larry and I were also awarded the Rookie of the Year award for 2007 with the Lung Association.  It was completely cool.

We'd like win the largest team award every year.   Please join us and sign up at:  http://www.mrsnv.com/evt/e01/team.jsp?id=1859&tid=680If you feel the need to create your own team, feel free to do so.  Although we'd love to have you, we'll take you anyway we can get you.  People were in complete awe of the skaters.  It's truly a great experience.  The bikers were welcoming and all the skaters who participated had a great time.

In the past, the course has followed a slightly modified Seagull Century route – beginning and ending at Salisbury University. The routes will be improved and designed with skater input.  You can expect, basically, a nice, flat, smooth course along Maryland's Eastern Shore.  We are members of the planning committee and are actively presenting and representing the needs of skaters.

I'd love to bring 50 people this year -- skaters and bikers.  JOIN US!  Help us make this a great Maryland event and please offer your comments and suggestions.  Rollerquest CBAR training (for all distances) is in full force.  Another great CBAR effect:  you're fully trained and ready for the season on June 1ST.

A description of the event is as follows:

WHAT?   A pledge-based bike tour and inline skating event to benefit children with asthma through programs and desperately needed pulmonary research efforts in order to find treatments and cures for lung disease. Open to all cyclists/skaters – novice to expert.  There are a variety of route lengths (Saturday: 20, 40, 62.5 or 100 miles & Sunday: 10, 20 or 40 miles) and your choice of one or both day tours!

WHEN?   May30 and 31, June 1, 2008

WHERE?   Start/Finish, lodging, and activities are held at Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD.  Routes go through Wicomico and Worcester Counties to Assateague Island or along the shorelines.

WHY?   To raise money to help children with asthma breathe easier through pediatric asthma education programs in Maryland.

  • Because one in 10 Marylanders lives with chronic lung disease; that’s 600,000 people! More than 150,000 are kids with asthma.
  • Because lung disease is the number #1 killer of children under the age of one and the #3 killer in the United States.
  • Because you can make a difference in Maryland’s future!
WHO?   Approximately 350 participants primarily from Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, DC and Pennsylvania.  Riders come from all over though, from as far away as New York, Ohio, California, and Colorado!
