SKATE TO ANNAPOLIS

July 22 skate rescheduled due to weather

New date to be posted soon

We will be skating with Washington Area Roadskaters (WAR) on the B and A Trail into Annapolis on July 22, 2006. We will meet at Marley Station behind J.C. Penney and The Rocky Run restaurant. Skate departure time will be 10:00 a.m., so be there earlier, gear up, and socialize, but be ready to go at 10:00. We will skate to the end of the B and A Trail, which is mostly flat, off street, and no cars. This portion is 10.5 miles long, (a good turn around point for those looking for less distance and no hills). There will be a short distance down route 450, which is a bit hilly, but the shoulders are really wide and are designated as bike lanes. After crossing the Severn river bridge (Stopping at the top to enjoy the view, take pictures, etc..) we will be in Annapolis. The streets are narrow and often brick paved, but easily skateable. There will be plenty of outdoor Cafe's to replenish and a view of Ego Alley (a channel along the waterfront where sailors bring their boats by in order to show them off).

We will take a short break for lunch or snacks and then return on the same route back to Marley Station. Total distance is around 35 miles. This skate is classified as an Intermediate skate. (Level 2 description)

What to bring

You should bring your skates and safety equipment, liquids for a hot day, maybe a sports bar to munch on en route, flip flops for wandering around in historic Annapolis, a camera for the views, money for food and such, and a cell phone for emergencies.
