B&A TRAIL/MARLEY
STATION Time: Varies Place: Marley Station Mall Date: Varies From Route 100: Go North on Route Two (Ritchie Highway) and turn left into Marley Station Mall. Stay on the access road and bear left at Sears. Look for the path on the left, by the benches, adjacent to the access road. Top of Page BWI AIRPORT LOOP (description) Time: Varies Place: Observation area / Parking Lot on Dorsey Road Date: Varies From Interstate 97. Take Route 100 West. Follow directions from Route 100. From 295 (Baltimore/Washington Expressway) Go East on Route 100. follow directions from Route 100. From Route 100: Take Route 170 (Telegraph Road) North, toward the Airport. Bear right at 176 (Dorsey Road). Continue for about one mile. Park will be on the right. From Downtown Baltimore: Take 295S or 95S/395S Washington to 695E (Glen Burnie) to 97S. Take the Rt. 162 exit (Aviation Blvd). Go straight until the exit ramp T's into Aviation Blvd. and turn left. Then turn right onto Dorsey Rd. and the parking lot is on your left about a mile or less down the street. Top of Page CAPITAL CRESCENT TRAIL (description) Time: Varies Place: Georgetown, DC Date: Varies Take 95S to 495 (Capital Beltway toward Silver Spring. Take Georgia Avenue S (97) toward Washington. At 16TH Street (Bear right) toward Washington. Turn right on New Hampshire Avenue. Go Through circle, turn onto New Hampshire. Turn right onto M Street. Make a left on 30TH or 31ST Street and go under Whitehurst to the parking areas. Path starts at the end of the parking area. Top of Page CARPOOL SITE — LONG-GATE HOWARD COUNTY PARK AND RIDE Time: Varies Place: Park & Ride off of Route 100 at end of LongGate Parkway Date: Varies From Route 29: Take Route 100 East—Go under Bridge and Exit Right (Very first exit) – on the ramp stay to the left. Exit and cross over LongGate Parkway. (Do not get on LongGate Parkway). Look for the park and ride on the left. From Route 100 heading West: Take LongGate Parkway Exit (Last Exit before Route 29), stay left at the top of the ramp. Make a left onto LongGate Parkway, cross over the bridge and make a right at the bottom of the hill. The Park and Ride will be on the left. From Route 695 Beltway: Take 70 West to 29 South. Follow the above directions from Route 29. Top of Page CROSS ISLAND TRAIL (description) Time: Varies Place: Kent Island, MD. Terrapin Nature Area Date: Varies From the Capital Beltway (I-495), take Route 50 east past Annapolis After crossing over the Bay Bridge ($2.50 toll eastbound only), take the first exit, Route 8 Stevensville. At the top of the exit ramp, make a left onto Route 8 at the light, crossing over Route 50. At the next traffic light (Skipjack Pkwy), make a left into Chesapeake Bay Business Park. The road will come to a tee. Make a left here and follow the circle road around the Business park to the Terrapin Nature Area. Top of Page HAINS POINT Time: Varies Place: East Potomac Park, DC Date: Varies Take 295 South. Once in DC, pass the Pennsylvania Ave East exit, then take the next exit, Howard Road. Get in the left lane and turn left at the light at the end of the ramp. Turn left at the first light and merge onto 295 north, immediately bear right to get onto 395. Stay toward the left, then stay in the three left lanes, preferably in the rightmost of the three left lanes. Stay on 395 until you go over a bridge over the Potomac, and take the exit at the end of that bridge, Potomac Park. Take a right at the end of the ramp. Go to a stop sign, go straight and then start looking for parking. You want to park between that stop sign and the next stop sign by the bathroom. Be sure to read the signs where you park regarding what hours you are allowed to park there. There is plenty of parking all along the road, but this part is where the skaters usually meet. To leave, go to the stop sign by the bathroom and turn left. Go straight through the next stop sign, then bear right at the end of the road. Bear right at the next road, and merge left onto 395. Follow that to Pennsylvania Ave. Once on Pennsylvania Ave, get in the left lane and turn left at the next light to get back onto 295 north. Mapquest Directions Top of Page LOCH RAVEN RESERVOIR Time: Varies Place: Towson, MD -- Northeast Baltimore County Date: Varies From 695 Beltway: Take Dulaney Valley Road N. Cross over the bridge and bear right at route intersection where Jarrettsville Pike breaks off to the left. Stay right, on Dulaney Valley Road. Pass the golf course. Go past the old restaurant, stay to the right and go further up to the closed gate area for parking and skate between the gates. The road is closed to traffic between the gates. Top of Page MARYLAND RAIL TRAIL (description) Time: Varies Place: Big Pool/Hancock, Maryland Date: Varies To reach the Eastern portion of the Western Maryland Rail Trail from I70: Take exit 12. Turn left at top of ramp toward Big Pool (approximately ½ mile). The trail parking lot is on the right across the street from the post office. To reach the Center of the Western Maryland Rail Trail from I70: Take Exit Three into Hancock. Turn right on MD 144; stay straight for about a mile and a half. Go past Burger King and look for the parking lot on the left. There is a brown Western Maryland Rail Trail sign at the entrance. This is a metered lot , so bring at least 8 quarters. Additional parking is available at the FREE lot right before the Park-n-Dine restaurant. It is labeled as a State Highway Park and Ride as well as a brown and white sign that says Western MD Rail Trail. At the far end of the lot is a paved access to the trail. However you will have to walk across about 30 feet of crushed stone surface to get to the path. If you park here skate west to the other lot, where the skate will begin. Top of Page RANGER STATION Time: Varies Place: The Ranger Station on the B&A Path, off Earleigh Heights Road Date: Varies From Route 100 at Marley Station Mall: Head S on Route Two (Ritchie Highway). Make a right onto Earleigh Heights Road. Continue for about ¼ mile. Cross the path. Parking lots are on the right and left. ROCK CREEK PARK Time: Varies Place: Beach Drive (Candy Cane City), Maryland/DC Date: Varies From I-95: Take the Capital Beltway (495) toward Bethesda. Take Exit 31 (Georgia Avenue) toward Silver Spring. Take Rount 390 (16TH Street) toward Washington. Make a right onto East-West Hightway (410). Continue past Rosemary Hills, past Sundale, past Grubb Road. At the bottom of the hill turn left at Meadowbrook (Meadowbrook Maintenance Facility Sign). Continue past the horse riding stable on the right. Turn right at the Candy Cane City sign. Continue to the parking lot at the baseball fields. Top of Page ROUTE 97 Time: Varies Place: Route 97 and Route 32 park and ride Date: Varies From 695 beltway Towson area you can take 795 north/west (toward Westminster). Turn left on 97(south) and go to the route 32 intersection. Cross route 32 and turn left into the park and ride. From 695/95 area take 695 toward Towson and then take 70 west, then 97 north, cross route 26 (liberty road) and go about 6.5 miles to route 32. The park and ride will be on the right. This is a Level 3 skate. You must be proficient at breaking down hills, climbing up hills and feel confident skating around traffic. Make a right onto Robinson Road. Continue about ½ mile. Cross the path and make a left (about 30 feet from the path) . Park next to the split rail fence. Top of Page SPRINT AND DRAFT Time: Varies Place: Mile Marker Three on the B&A Trail Date: Varies From Snowball Stand on B&A Trail—see Snowball Stand Directions: Park at Robinson Road (MM 5.5-Snowball Stand) and skate south From Arnold Station Shopping Center on Ritchie Highway: Park at Arnold Station (MM 1.5) and skate north. WBA TRAIL (description) Time: Varies Place: Bowie, Maryland—Glendale Community and Splashpark Date: Varies From BW Parkway (295): Take 295S to Powder Mill Road. Turn left at the stop sign. Drive less than ¼ mile, make a right onto Springfield Road (at the building on the left marked 9200). Continue past three green water towers, go past Beavers Dam Road. Make a right onto Lanham Severn Road. Turn left onto GlenDale Boulevard (193E). Continue for about ½ mile to the fire department on the left, turn right into GlenDale Community Center (across the street from the firm department). Turn left in the parking lot and park near the WBA path access. Top of Page
